A Woman, a Dream,
and a Pan of Peas & Rice
Every dish we prepare carries a story — one that starts on a small island in the Bahamas, in a warm kitchen where a young girl stood beside her mother, watching, learning, and falling deeply in love with the art of feeding people.
"When I cook, I'm not just making food. I'm sharing my homeland, my mother's hands, my children's future."
My passion for food began as a little girl, watching my mother move with grace and love in our kitchen back in the Bahamas. After relocating to Columbus, I realized how much I missed the food of home. That's when I decided to create it myself — and share it with others.
Starting this business wasn't just about food. It was about survival, purpose, and creating a better life for my children. Cooking came naturally to me, and when people tasted my food and it brought them joy — that gave me the motivation to keep going.
Today, Island Girl is more than a catering company. It's a cultural ambassador. Island Girl Bahamian Cuisine is my love letter to the Bahamas, to my mother, and to everyone who's ever tasted my food and felt like they were home.
